Memorial Day is coming up. Here are patriotic Memorial Day food ideas for your picnic and long weekend. Serving foods in red, white, and blue is one way to honor those who served.
It is a patriotic holiday we proudly celebrate in my family since my dad was a career Lt. Colonel in the Air Force and my mom was a WAV during World War II. We salute them and all of our brave service men and women who are no longer with us.
But, along with that, there is also a time to get together with friends and family to kick off cookout season.
So, today I have put together a fun list of patriotic treats for your celebration.
1. Snack tray Flag.
Arrange strawberries, yogurt-dipped pretzels, and blueberries on a tray for a simple sweet flag.

Alternate blueberries, strawberries, brownies, and marshmallows for yummy kabobs on wooden or metal skewers.
4. Easy dipped strawberries.
Dip fresh strawberries in white chocolate and then blue or colored sprinkles.
Love the look of this one with the blue sprinkle sugar! Very patriotic!
5. Red, white, and blue Captain America drinks.
My kids love watching the Avengers, so of course these will be a hit. Yummy red, white, and blue drinks with the flavors of cherry and blueberry that kids and adults will both love.
6. And this spectacular American flag cake!
This cake looks difficult but is made with Betty Crocker cake mixes. It’s much easier than you would think.

9. Firecracker hot dogs.
Basically large pigs in a blanket with a cheese star on top – easy to make and fun to eat.
10. Patriotic salad.
Full of sweet strawberries, juicy blueberries, and feta cheese. Yum!
11. American flag meat and cheese tray. Because ‘Merica.
Pepperoni, white cheddar and blue tortilla chips. Easy, awesome munchies for guests.
And 2 party bonuses. (Because they are so darned fun!)
And they both involve ice cream, because here in Florida, it is HOT on Memorial Day and 4th of July 🙂
12. Ice cream sundae bar.
Create a sundae bar full of toppings so guests can make their own perfect sundaes.
13. Ice cream float station.
Pre-scoop ice cream into mason jars. Put the jars and cans of soda in a cooler full of ice. Guests can make their own ice cream floats in the flavor of their choice. My favorite besides root beer? Purple cows! What? You’ve never heard of a purple cow?!?
Psst… Here’s a purple cow. It’s grape soda and vanilla ice cream – yum!
