Looking for some awesome pool storage ideas?
It’s hot. If you have a pool, I bet it is getting a lot of use right about now! But with all of that use, there are towels, suits, toys, floats and pool equipment that can just make your pool space messy and even dangerous, if someone trips over something.
So, from someone who lives in Florida, where we get to swim most of the year, here are some of my favorite awesome ideas to help keep all of the pool necessities organized so you can spend more time enjoying the pool!
Pool storage idea #1 – Ways to corral towels.

We keep our pool towels in a large bin on the porch (like this one) so no one has to drip water all through the house to get a towel after swimming. We have a wooden drying rack right next to it for wet towels. It is easy to store because it is collapsible, but it is pretty flimsy.
PVC towel storage rack
So my hubby built a nice solid towel rack out of PVC. We keep that one out by the pool. We just have to remember to bring in the towels before it rains (which it does every afternoon here in the summer). (The directions are coming soon – I promise!)
Here are some other ways to keep those towels handy.
Wine rack.
What a great use of a wine rack!
Purchase it here on Amazon.
Recycle an old shutter!
I love the look of this old shutter. Just add some sturdy coat hooks (because wet towels can get heavy!) and you have a rustic towel holder! So easy!
Pool storage idea #2: Pool floats
Store them on porch/patio.
These can be big and cumbersome and take up a lot of room. As you saw in my picture, we tuck our giant inflatable alligator and other floats behind the grill on our lanai.
Doing this works great because we have a deep roof on our lanai that keeps things from blowing around (and our pool area is completely screened in), but I love these other ideas, too.
Secure them with nets.
Use a cargo net and Command hooks to contain all those floats up off the floor. Here’s a large cargo net on Amazon, like the one pictured.
And if you are looking for pool floats, I recommend a heavy-duty one like ours. It works great for both kids and grownups. It’s sturdy enough for the lake, ocean, or tubing on the river.
This is a great heavy-duty float.
These are fun ones for the kids π
Donuts are always fun like the one pictured above!
Alligators are great, but unicorns are pretty awesome to have in the pool, too!

Hang them up outside.
Build long hooks using PVC pipes and PVC elbows to hold more than one float. But, if you’d rather hang each one individually, use Kayak hangers. They are wide enough to hold an inflated tube and easy to install on a fence or wall.
Use a flag pole!
I love this idea! If you’ve got a lot of floats to store, it’s super easy to hang a whole bunch of floats and rings on a flag pole. Makes them easy to take down and put back. Can be used all season!
Pool storage idea #3: Make your own storage with PVC pipes!
PVC pipes can be configured in so many ways to create terrific outdoor storage!
I shared our towel storage rack earlier, but here it is again.
There are TONS of ways to use PVC for storage! It’s pretty inexpensive, won’t rust, and takes the heat, so it’s a great source for your DIY pool storage needs!
All-in-one PVC pool storage unit.
This design covers all the bases – float and raft holders, noodle holders, and a bin for smaller items. I have included a link to the site, but there are no detailed directions. It does seem pretty easy to make. May be next on my hubby’s “honey-do” list…
Pool storage idea #4: Goggles and toys.
As you saw in the picture of my storage items above, we use a large outdoor storage bin to hold our boogie boards, water guns, and other toys.
We use a small plastic storage bin (the kind with holes in it so water drains out) that we got from the dollar store to hold goggles and other small items.
But, I love these ideas, too!
Use plastic baskets for extra pool storage and organization!
Use dollar store plastic baskets attached to your fence or baby fence to store toys. Easy to do and handy since they are right next to the pool.
Got an old pallet lying around? Use it for extra pool storage and organization!
Using a wooden pallet is a great way to store pool noodles. They are just tucked in between the slats. So clever!
Add some fun decorative hooks like these fishtails to store towels, wet suits, and goggles.
Here is another example of using a wooden pallet. This one is mounted vertically instead. Not only did they add hooks, but they also added baskets for goggles and toys. So clever!
Make a floating pool toy catcher!
Use a laundry basket and pool noodles to make a floating pool toy basket.
When you’re done in the pool, it’s easy to grab the whole basket, set it on the deck and have everything drain and dry out. Nice!
Use a fun piece of weathered wood to hang goggles and masks.
And this DIY pool organizer is my favorite since it has storage for everything! There is a shelf at the top and plenty of hooks for hanging towels, goggles, and bins!
I also like that this one takes advantage of all the wall space and therefore takes little floor space in your pool area!

Okay, we’ve covered pool storage ideas.
Here are 2 ideas for using pool noodles in a different way – just for fun in the pool!
Create a floating cooler!
Attach pool noodle pieces to a storage bin with twine. Fill it with ice and beverages for a floating cooler! Awesome!
Floating tea light luminaries.
Another great idea for using pool noodles. Cut them up and insert battery-powered tea lights in them to float in the pool for a lovely ambient light during an evening party by the pool.

How to handle pool storage in the off-season. My best pro organizer tip!
If you live in a warm climate like us here in Florida, you don’t really have to worry about storing your pool supplies somewhere else part of the year.
But if you live in a colder climate, I highly recommend you store them in a protected shed or in your garage.
Do that by using the wasted space above the garage door.
Yup! Youβd be surprised how much storage you can add to your garage when you incorporate your ceiling! The ceiling space is perfect for storing all kinds of things you donβt use often.
Things like camping equipment or seasonal items like pool toys, sleds, or Christmas decorations.
Adding shelving can be really easy, too, because companies are now making shelving units specifically for the garage ceiling, like these.
