Need some ways to dress up a child’s room without having to paint all the walls? Here are some ways I found to decorate using just the bedroom door.
I saw this on my Facebook feed recently from Bright Side and thought it was so cute, I just wanted to share it!
This video shows how you can transform your child’s door into a great piece of art with ease. You don’t even have to be a master painter. You can either use paint or stick-on vinyl that you cut into shape, which is especially handy if you are in a rental and are not allowed to paint. Now, if we could only find a way to animate it!
Decorate a child’s bedroom door with chalkboard paint and a basketball hoop.

Harry Potter Platform 9 3/4 decal
Platform 9 3/4 from Harry Potter full-size door decal. This is so cool I want it myself! What a great way to spark a child’s imagination!
But if you are daunted with applying a large decal covering the entire door, you could opt for just the sign instead.
Here is another great idea.
Use awesome Dr. Seuss printables to decorate a child’s bedroom door.
Printable art of Dr. Seuss quotes. You do need to sign up for the blog’s free newsletter but then you get the printables immediately.
Use colorful Washi tape to create your own designs.
Kind of a cheater, since this goes AROUND the door, but close enough since there’s no painting involved.
This is from a teacher’s Pinterest page showing her classroom door, but it would work just as well in a child’s room, and as a former children’s librarian, I am a push-over for The Very Hungry Caterpillar by Eric Carle. Also, do a search on ideas for decorating classroom doors. Teachers have such great ideas!
And finally, don’t forget about the doorknob!
A craft you and your little one can do together!
I found this cute Disney craft to dress up the doorknob just like the talking one from Disney’s Alice in Wonderland. Click here for printable and directions.
* Bonus for the teen or adult Dr. Who fan:
Because we are Whovians at my house and my teens would all LOVE this door (hubby, too).
Click here for directions on how they made it and where they ordered the stickers.
Who knew you could decorate a child’s bedroom door to update their whole bedroom?
If you’ve done any other door decorating, please share – I’d love to see it.
Happy decorating!
