Looking for an easy dessert? Make clingons!
No, Trekkies, not this kind of Klingon.
This kind:
Clingons are an easy dessert made with cereal. They are called clingons because you pull them apart to eat them. They are crunchy, chewy and sweet; full of rice and corn Chex, marshmallows, peanut butter and M&M’s. What’s not to love?
My friend gave me this recipe years ago when we were starving college students and this was a cheap and yummy weekend treat that even we could afford, and it is really easy to make! 🙂
Here are the ingredients:
4 1/2 c. miniature marshmallows, divided (basically one 10 oz. bag)
1/3 c. peanut butter
1/4 c. (1/2 stick) of margarine
3 1/2 c. Rice Chex cereal
3 1/2 c. Corn Chex cereal
1/2 c. M&M’s
Directions:
Grease a 9×13 pan with Pam or margarine, set aside.
In a large microwave-safe bowl, combine 4 c. of marshmallows, peanut butter, and margarine.
Microwave on high for 2 minutes or until melted.
(Meanwhile, measure out the rest of ingredients. Combine the cereal into one bowl for easy adding.)
Take marshmallow mixture out of microwave and stir until smooth.
Add in 1/2 of cereal, 1/2 the M&M’s, and 1/2 of the remaining cup of marshmallows. Continue until all ingredients are mixed together.
Pour the mixture into the greased pan.
Spray Pam on your hands and spread the mixture evenly into the pan.
Refrigerate for 1 hour.
To serve, pull apart and enjoy – because they’re clingons, of course! 🙂

IF you have any leftovers (which we never do), store them in an airtight container.
This is one of my favorite desserts to make for bible study night or to take to a picnic. It travels well and everyone seems to love it – kids and adults alike.
Of course, if you are a Trekkie (like my family), this is also a great snack while binge-watching on Netflix.
As Captain Picard says, “Make it so!”
Enjoy 🙂
