You (and/or your tax accountant) will thank you later at tax time when you are desperately trying to remember what you donated to each charity and when.

Be sure to print out a donation inventory sheet for each charity to make your record-keeping easier.
P.S. Don’t forget to grab a donation form from your charity (that has their name on it) if they offer one when you do drop off your items. That way you can easily fill it out later with what you wrote down on your inventory sheet and put in your current year tax folder.
