It can be frustrating to store those rolls of gift wrap and ribbons. Here are some easy, inexpensive ways to organize gift wrapping to make wrapping gifts a breeze.
Are all of your rolls of gift wrap just stuffed in a closet? Are the bows all smashed, and rolls of ribbon unwound into a big tangle? Kinda makes you not want to wrap that perfect present you found for your best friend, doesn’t it?
Don’t worry. As a professional organizer, here are some of my favorite ways to tame the mess, organize gift wrapping supplies and make wrapping gifts a breeze!
First of all, I keep my own wrapping supplies in a small rolling set of drawers, tucked beside my dresser. I store all the wrapping paper in a round garbage can right on top, which works great!
Tissue paper, gift boxes and gift bags are in one drawer, ribbons, gift tags, scissors and scotch tape in another, and all the bows in another. It keeps everything from getting squished and makes it easy to find items quickly.
That’s how I store my gift wrapping supplies, but here are other ways you can get your gift wrapping supplies neatly organized, too!
Keep rolls of wrapping paper neat with toilet paper tubes.
The easiest way to keep your wrapping paper from unrolling is to use a toilet paper tube, cut down the middle. Slip it onto the roll and it holds the paper neatly in place.

How to store long rolls of wrapping paper.
For many years, I used a store-bought wrapping paper holder and it worked great, but I like my new system better.
Here is our original holder:
Use a shoe bag, like these.
Cut out the bottoms off of the middle pockets of a shoe bag organizer to store large tubes of wrapping paper neatly and then use the upper pockets to store bows, gift tags and tape.

Use plastic hooks and dowels to store the rolls.
Use an Ikea plastic bag holder to hold rolls of gift wrap.
These are so inexpensive and hold LOTS of rolls of wrapping paper. Attach it to the wall with a Command hook.

This is such an awesome idea! I love repurposing items into even more useful things!
Ways to tame rolls of ribbon.
Use a plastic bin from the dollar store.
Hang the rolls from a dowel hung in the middle and thread the ends of the ribbon through individual holes. No more tangled ribbon!
Use a pants hanger to keep rolls of ribbon neat.
And there you go. Great ways to get your wrapping supplies neatly organized!

I use a single skirt hanger to keep my gift bags and flat gift wrapping paper including tissue paper organized. All occasion cards go in the bags. Nice and tidy! The hanger is kept on an over-the-door hanger behind bedroom door. I also repurpose a deep cigar box for ribbons. I don’t buy rolls of wrapping paper anymore.
What can you use instead of Command Hooks? They can be expensive and I need to save everything!
Hi Brenda! Depending on how permanent your hangings will be, you can also use Velcro strips. I used big rolls of them from Wal-mart or Joann Fabric, etc. that had an adhesive back when I created my flannelboard pieces as a children’s librarian. It holds really well, but since it is an adhesive backing, it is hard to peel back off and could damage your surface. But the good thing is you can use exactly the amount you need because you cut it yourself, so there is no waste.
