Please take me to Hogwarts, Harry Potter!
It’s been one of those days. There’s a hurricane nearby with lots of rain and wind (or maybe dementors). I just found out hour-long staff meetings have been scheduled for the next 6 months on my day off. My kids are still home snoozing on a Thursday because they canceled school for Hermine (which should really be Hermione, don’t you think?), but not where I work.
So, since it is the 1st of September and I am, after all, a very well-read children’s librarian, I know that today is the start of term for Hogwarts.
Are you having a gloomy day, too?
Why don’t you come with me to the world of Harry Potter? I think we could use a bit of a break, don’t you?
So, again I say, take me to Hogwarts, Harry Potter!
I have my acceptance letter!
Did you misplace your Hogwarts acceptance letter? Tsk, tsk.
Here is a great place to print out a personalized one, just for you.
Now, what about your ticket for the Hogwarts’ Express?
Here’s where you can print out your own.
This one is mine:
Remember, you get on the train at Platform 9 3/4.

Here is a full door vinyl decal, easy to put on and remove!
Or a simpler decal on the wall, like this one.
Now you need to be sorted into your house!
I am in Gryffindor! Yay! (Colors are the same as my alma mater – Florida State)
The official place to do this is at Pottermore.com. You do need to create a free account to join, but it is a lot of fun, and there is so much great stuff on this site.
Here is the link to get sorted: http://www.pottermore.com/explore-the-story/the-sorting-hat
But here is another version from Buzzfeed.com that you can try as well.
Now you’re set!
By the way, are your craft supplies a jumbled mess? Get a FREE copy of my top ways to organize them below. 👇
Then you need to make your own wand.
From chopsticks, a hot glue gun, paint and beads.
Next, make yourself at home with a nice warm butterbeer.
And don’t forget that Harry’s birthday is July 31st. So you can make him a cake like Hagrid did.
Here’s an easy recipe for you.
Or make this scrumptious butterbeer pie!!!!
Get the recipe here from Delish
And, one last thing from this librarian (who is NOT like Madam Pince, thank you very much).
I think it’s time to re-read your Harry Potter books. Don’t you?
Here are some fun little bookmarks you can print out for free, so you can keep your place while you study for Potions or Transfiguration.
And here are some fun gifts to give the booklovers in your life (including more Harry Potter items)
So, get your trunk packed, load up your owl and I’ll see you later on the Hogwarts Express!
I feel better already!
Happy reading!
~ Pam
Loved It:) I am a huge harry potter fan so I’m totally making my own wand.
Awesome, Kate! Let me know how your wand turns out! 🙂
Thanks for this! Love it! Totally printing my Hogwarts letter and ticket :). I already make my own wands, of course ;).
I knew you’d like this, Kat 🙂
